This song was truly quick and dirty. I believe there’s even a spot that doesn’t have any lyrics and I’m just mumbling. The entire recording process took about 2 hours and most of that time was spent sequencing the drums. Afterwards, a quick acoustic guitar track, bass, EP, and slap on a vocal line et voila!
This song was intended to be sung by a woman, Celeste. At this point in The Truth of One she has received a letter from Simon with whom she grew up and is appalled at her own ability to leave loved ones behind; those people and things which were so important to us in the past have all but faded into the dark backwards of our memories.
John and I have at least temporarily abandoned The Truth of One and are planning on recycling this piece into an upcoming adaptation of The Sorrows of Young Werther by Goethe.
